My Role and Core Product

Through analysis and visualisation, the project trys to better understand data around possible inequalities among people in substance misuse treatment.

The expected outputs include interactive dashboards and anti-racist system blueprint to better helping our community.

Methodology and Process

  • Python, Tableau - data analysis/visualisation
  • Semi-structured interviews - with LBH Wellbeing Team and Council staff, to observe how the service is delivered
  • Figma - system design

Data cleaning

  • Issues with original dataset

errors with data types; some values missing; age/ethnicity/outcome groups not defined

  • My approach

Check for and handle errors to ensure data quality.

Convert categorical variables into a suitable format following the method in literarure and GOV UK's official definition.

Data visualisation

Create interactive dashboard via Tableau as the following sample (generated using a random dataset to keep project data confidential).

a Tableau dashboard showing ethnicity, age and sex of people in treatment
Dashboard 1: Ethnicity, sex and age
a Tableau dashboard showing the referral routes into treatment
Dashboard 2: referral routes
